Kuwait Announces New Work Post-Ramadan

The Kuwaiti Civil Service Commission has defined the official work schedule after the end of Ramadan. In a circular, the Commission stated that it continues to implement the external Civil Service Commission circular No. 4 of 2026 regarding the determination of the number of workers in government entities under the current regional conditions. Clause 1 specifies that the number of workers in government offices should not exceed 30%, with mandatory rotation among employees. Each entity will determine a rotation system, daily or weekly, according to the nature and circumstances of its work, with the possibility of remote work if feasible. The Commission also noted a reduction in working hours in government entities by one hour from the standard morning schedule, until further notice. Thus, the workday will be 6 hours, while maintaining the rest periods, flexible work system, permission system, and compliance with check-in and check-out procedures and presence during working hours as per the standard system, according to the Civil Service Council Resolution No. 41 of 2006 and all its amendments. The Commission confirmed that the evening work system remains suspended until further notice. The Commission emphasized that this reduction does not affect the legally mandated shift systems. For cases where working hours are reduced under the relevant decisions, the reduction in Clause 2 above applies, making their workday 4 hours. The Commission announced that this system will take effect the day after the Eid al-Fitr holiday and until further notice.
