Kuwait to Strictly Verify Diplomas of Civil Servants

Kuwaiti government has given state bodies a two-week deadline to submit the names of employees who have obtained academic degrees from suspicious and questionable universities. According to a source, a special committee will verify the diplomas submitted by state bodies in accordance with a strict procedure. If a diploma is found to be 'invalid' or issued by a fictitious university, the employee will be referred to the Public Prosecution after an investigation and the forgery is proven. The source also noted that the Cabinet of Ministers has issued strict instructions to thoroughly verify diplomas and take a firm stance against forgers, making the verification of employee diplomas a priority. The source added that the verification of academic degrees for civil servants covers all categories of employees, including managerial and supervisory staff, and no one will be exempt from scrutiny and accountability if their degree is found to be forged. Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, Sharif Al-Musharrah, stressed the need for joint efforts to verify the academic degrees of civil servants.
