Kuwait Authorities Bust Major Residency Scam

In Kuwait, an organized criminal group was uncovered, involved in major financial machinations related to visa processing. The group, which caused a significant stir in the country, consists of an Egyptian resident named 'Lis', as well as two employees working in organizations responsible for visa and labor issues. They conspired to legalize the presence of illegal migrants in the country and brought in labor force from abroad for substantial sums of money. According to the Kuwaiti newspaper 'Al-Rai', 'Egyptian Lis' and his associates received payments ranging from 400 dinars for a visa in Kuwait to up to 2000 dinars or more for the import of workers from abroad. The criminals also participated in manipulations with phantom needs assessments of companies, registering around 275 firms in this scheme. After their arrest, 'Egyptian Lis' and his associates admitted that they forged documents and licenses for companies to conclude deals involving visas totaling over a million dinars. Invitations were sent to all owners of the firms that figured in the deals, most of which closed their companies immediately after submitting documents for visas, unaware of their legal status.
