Sporting events often transcend the boundaries of competition on the field, revealing the most wonderful human manifestations and beautiful moments. A friend of mine, who lived and began his journey in Kuwait, told me how he and his brother were members of one of Kuwait's swimming clubs. This was the fate of many who grew up there. In the early 1970s, we were fascinated by many bright names in Kuwaiti football, such as Maraib Jassem Yaqoub, Faisal Al-Dukheil, and the outstanding goalkeeper Ahmad Trabulsi, and others. We lived for years in the era of the dominance of this constellation of stars in the Gulf region.
