In an official statement, the spokesman for the Kuwait National Guard, Brigadier General Jadaan Fadhel, noted that the interceptions were carried out as part of ongoing efforts to reinforce national security, protect critical infrastructure, and neutralize potential threats. Kuwaiti authorities did not immediately reveal the origin of the attacks. On Tuesday, Kuwait's Ministry of Defense reported that its air defense systems detected 17 ballistic missiles and 13 drones. The Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy indicated that debris from interception operations damaged seven power lines, causing partial supply cuts in some areas. Early Wednesday, Kuwaiti authorities announced that its air defenses intercepted multiple hostile drones and missiles, while a fuel depot at Kuwait International Airport was hit in an attack that caused a fire. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGAC) confirmed that drones attacked a fuel storage facility at Kuwait International Airport, after which no casualties were reported. Emergency teams and authorities responded quickly to contain the fire, DGAC said in a statement posted on social media X, and added that the incident caused only material damage, with no injuries. Amid escalating tensions between the United States and Israel against Iran, which began last month, the Kuwaiti Army indicated that its air defense systems managed to counter and intercept threats from hostile missiles and drones detected in the country's airspace, and explained that the loud explosions heard in various parts of Kuwait were the result of these operations. Meanwhile, the Kuwait National Guard (GNK) announced that it had intercepted six drones within its operational zones. Its spokeswoman, Fatima Hayat, added that work was immediately initiated to restore service, and that most of the affected lines have already been repaired.
