Kuwait Exempts Stranded Employees from Work

The Kuwaiti Civil Service Commission announced on Sunday that it is exempting employees stranded outside Kuwait from work due to the closure of airspace and exceptional circumstances in the region. This period will be considered as actual service to enable them to return to the country. According to a statement posted on the social media platform X, the commission has addressed government agencies, bodies, and public institutions in Kuwait regarding the situation of employees who are unable to return due to the exceptional circumstances in the region. The statement adds that this decision is to address the situation of stranded employees, during which the period of exemption from work is considered as actual service until they can return to the country after the airspace is reopened or by any other means. It is clarified that the exemption period will be determined after the end of their approved leave or after the end of the leave they were supposed to return from, as directed by their direct supervisor or a subsequent supervisor. The matter is referred to the Administrative Affairs Department or the relevant organizational unit in the entity. It is also mentioned that it is necessary to attach a document proving the employee's presence outside the country during this period to include this period as actual service in the automated systems according to the established procedures.
