The Kuwaiti Criminal Court, presided over by Judge Ahmed Al-Siddi and Secretary Ibrahim Al-Farsi, sentenced fashionista Khuloud and her husband Amin Al-Ghashi to two years in prison for drug use and smuggling psychotropic substances through Kuwait International Airport. They were also fined 2,000 Kuwaiti dinars, with the sentence suspended for three years on a bail of 1,000 dinars for good behavior. They were acquitted of the second charge of failing to declare $26,705 at the airport. The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges against them. They stated that the narcotics confiscated from them by Kuwait airport customs inspectors upon their return from abroad were for medical treatment and were a prescription for nerve treatment. As for the confiscated money, they claimed it was winnings from a foreign casino, according to Al-Rai newspaper.
