Kuwait's Weapon Amnesty Deadline Expires

Kuwait's Ministry of Interior announced the end of a special period during which citizens could voluntarily surrender unlicensed firearms. Over 2,800 pieces of various weapons were collected. Authorities now promise to strictly enforce the law against anyone found in possession of unregistered weapons.


Kuwait's Weapon Amnesty Deadline Expires

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior announced today that the exceptional deadline for surrendering unlicensed firearms, ammunition, and explosives, which was established to provide Kuwaiti citizens with an opportunity to rectify their legal status and enhance community security, expired yesterday. The Ministry stated that it received 2,818 pieces of various firearms during the campaign, including 47 sniper rifles, 518 Kalashnikovs, 537 shotguns, 94 MP5 submachine guns, 51 M16 rifles, 22 caliber rifles, 166 semi-automatic pistols, 50 caliber machine guns, 342 air rifles, 61 air pistols, 893 pistols, and 7 RPG launchers. The Ministry commended the significant cooperation from Kuwaitis and thanked everyone who took the initiative to surrender unlicensed firearms during the grace period, reflecting their awareness, responsibility, and commitment to supporting the security system and enhancing the nation's security and stability. The Ministry also confirmed that with the expiration of this deadline, the law will be strictly enforced against anyone found to be in possession of or using unlicensed firearms, in accordance with the systems and laws in force in Kuwait.
