Eid al-Fitr Expected to Begin on March 30, 2025

The Al-Ujairi Scientific Center in Kuwait announced on Saturday that the celebration of the holiday of Ramadan will likely begin on Sunday, March 30, 2025, based on astronomical calculations. The organization stated that the new lunar month of Shaban will appear on 29 Ramadan (March 29) at 13:57 of the day and will be visible in the sky of Kuwait for just eight minutes after sunset, which makes it almost impossible for the untrained eye. In some Islamic regions of Southeast Asia, the moon sets with the sun, making it absolutely invisible. Despite the fact that these predictions are based on astronomical data, the official decision on the beginning of the month of Shaban and the celebration of Ramadan is usually made by religious authorities who have the spiritual right to declare the holiday. The Al-Ujairi Scientific Center noted that the continuity of the lunar visibility in the sky will differ in Arab and Muslim countries by four to twenty minutes, depending on the geographic location of each country.
