Drone attack causes fire at Kuwaiti refinery

A drone attack this Friday caused a fire in several operational units of the Mina Al Ahmadi refinery in Kuwait, with no injuries reported. This marks a new action against this energy infrastructure in the small Persian Gulf country amid the Iran war. The Kuwait Petroleum Corporation stated in a statement that the refinery, one of the country's most important, was targeted by a "malicious drone attack" this morning, without identifying the perpetrators, resulting in a "fire in several operational units." It noted that emergency teams acted "immediately" to contain the situation and confirmed that the attack caused no casualties. This is not the first attack on the refinery, which was also attacked by several drones on March 20. Since February 28, when the United States and Israel launched a joint offensive against Iran, the conflict has spread to several Persian Gulf countries, including Kuwait. In this context, Kuwaiti territory has been subject to multiple attacks attributed to Iran and allied groups based in Iraq, several of which targeted energy and critical infrastructure.
